Secretary: Isabelle Chen

Hello, Lakeside! My name is Isabelle, a fourth-year student in the Department of French and Italian, and I am excited to run for the Secretary position of the Lakeside Committee for the upcoming term.

As secretary, my main objective would be facilitating communication between Lakeside residents, committee members, and administration. Many recent experiences on campus make me a strong candidate in this respect. As the representative for my department’s Graduate Liaison Committee, I’ve recorded detailed meeting minutes and voiced my cohort’s questions/concerns to the department administration. I have also been an organizer for department conferences, as well as a University Administrative Fellow working with GradFUTURES and the Princeton University Press: both roles required maintaining open and efficient communication between different groups on- and off-campus. This is all in addition to a highly organized personality: people who know me will tell you that I love notetaking, bulleted lists, calendars, and a clean, zero-unread-messages inbox.

Beyond enabling better communication within Lakeside, I have a few more concrete goals. First, at the most recent town hall, there was talk of creating “how-to” guides for residents to make everything from move-in to package pickup easier; as secretary, I would be happy to contribute to this project by helping to organize ideas and write the text. I also hope to carry on the previous secretary’s mission to respond to all messages within 24 hours, either via email or in the #lakeside GSG Slack channel.

Overall, having lived in Lakeside for over two years, I would love to have this opportunity to be more actively involved in our community, and to put my organizational skills to work in service of Lakeside residents!
