Hi, my name is Alina Thokkadam, and I’m a G3 in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department! I am running for the position of Vice Chair because I want to serve the residents of Lakeside by helping the Lakeside Committee run smoothly.
I am well-prepared to fulfill the duties of Vice Chair because of my previous leadership experience. While in college, I served as the President, Vice President, and Marketing Chair for the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. In these roles, I organized social events, dealt with the organization’s finances, conducted social media outreach, and implemented new event ideas that increased member turnout. I collaborated with several other members of the Executive Board to accomplish our goals. With my experience in a wide variety of different leadership positions, I am ready to help the Chair and other Lakeside Committee members in their roles.
My goal as Vice Chair is to help foster the community at Lakeside. With the pandemic limiting our last academic year, I would like to use this year to help all the residents feel integrated into our community by making the social events at Lakeside more accessible. I plan to work with the Secretary and Social Chair to have more streamlined communication via email to residents regarding events. Additionally, I plan to work with the Webmaster to organize these events into an online calendar system so that students can easily find upcoming events. Finally, I want to implement a virtual, anonymous feedback form that residents can use to inform the Lakeside Committee of any suggestions or concerns they have if they cannot make it to the Town Hall meetings. Thank you for reading, and feel free to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org for any questions, comments, or concerns!”
