Webmaster Candidates

Momin Ghaffar

Hi neighbors! My name is Momin Ghaffar, and I currently serve as the Webmaster on the Lakeside Apartments Committee. I’m running again for the Webmaster position because I’ve found it fulfilling participating on the Lakeside Apartments Committee, and I’ve immensely enjoyed helping catalyze change in our community.

Beyond serving as Webmaster this past year, I also possess 10+ years of professional experience (yes, this means I’m quite a bit older than the average Lakeside resident!) in tech, data, and IT consulting where I’ve empowered fellow colleagues and clients alike with key information from well-maintained websites and company intranets to share documents and other critical resources via Box, OneDrive, Google Drive, SharePoint, DocuSign, etc. Not only would you be casting a vote for an experienced Webmaster, but you’d also be casting a vote for a technical point-of-contact and resource to assist with troubleshooting issues. Moreover, with my industry experience I’d like to explore opportunities to squeeze even more functionality out of the existing Lakeside Apartments web interface to deliver additional value on top of your baseline expectations of timely updates of meeting minutes, notices, and community-wide communications. It’s my belief that all of your invaluable feedback coupled with my zeal in leveraging a technical background will ultimately lead to an exceedingly engaged, informed, and digitally-empowered Lakeside community.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit more about me and my platform. I look forward to earning your vote again, and I look even more forward to meeting all of you!

Elijah Gallimore-Repole

Hello everyone! I’m Elijah, and I’m running to serve as your next Webmaster. I’ve lived at Lakeside for three years now, and it’s truly felt like home, a calm escape from the rigors of graduate school. I’m running because I care about helping our community stay connected, informed, and engaged through clear, updated, and accessible communication.

Why Me

Before this, I served as Communications Director for the Graduate Student Government (GSG) from 2023–2024, a role with many analogous responsibilities to that of Webmaster. These included, but were not limited to:

  1. Coordinating updates to the GSG website
  2. Managing responses to official correspondence
  3. Compiling, editing, and disseminating the weekly GSG newsletter
  4. Working closely with the rest of the executive board, university administrators, and other campus community members to ensure that graduate student concerns and initiatives were clearly communicated and acted upon

During my time as GSG Communications Director, I aimed to maintain transparency and accessibility of information for the graduate student community — even continuing to assist with responsibilities after my term ended. I believe these experiences make me a strong candidate for the Webmaster role.

Beyond GSG, I’ve also served on several teams, panels, and student organization boards both at Princeton and prior to my time here. Through these roles, I have gained experience collaborating with fellow students and university offices to improve the experiences of various campus community members. Recent examples of these roles at Princeton include my time as an ADI Diversity Fellow and Graduate School Mentorship Fellow, where I focused on advocating for student interests, building community engagement, and enhancing mentorship programs.

What I’d Like to Focus On

Maintaining a clear, up-to-date website: Ensuring that meeting minutes, announcements, and resident resources are accurate, timely, and easy to navigate.
Streamlining communication: Working closely with the Secretary, Chair, Graduate School administrators, and American Campus Communities staff to ensure committee updates and resident notices are distributed promptly and consistently.
Strengthening community engagement: Expanding the website to feature helpful resources, an updated calendar of upcoming events, notices about resident-led initiatives, and other information that can help make Lakeside feel more connected and engaged.

I believe effective communication is at the heart of a strong community. With my background in web management, outreach, and collaboration, I’m ready to bring that experience to Lakeside and help ensure that residents always feel informed and heard. Thank you for reading!

Jan Ertl

Hi everyone! I’m Jan Ertl, a G4 in Economics, and I’m running for Webmaster of the Lakeside Committee.

Why me?

I have the technical skills. I’m familiar with HTML, CSS and principles of UI/UX design so I’m confident I can implement any changes or additions our website needs, from aesthetic updates to functional improvements.

I’ve already been working for Lakeside. Even without a committee title, I’ve jumped in to make things happen:

  • Lakeside Gym and Commons Survey & Advocacy: Together with former Chair Isabelle Chen and External Relations Delegate Yi Ying Tan, I designed and ran a comprehensive survey on improvements to the Lakeside gym and common areas, gathering evidence of near-unanimous resident support for new equipment.
  • Finding supplemental funding for Lakeside: Working with Yi Ying and consulting with Treasurer Chris Branner-Augmon, I wrote two Tigerwell grant applications to secure supplementary funds for implementing the community feedback.
  • Community Events: I regularly organize events open to all Lakeside residents, including our upcoming Spooktober Lakeside Game Night on Oct 29th, 7pm, two Cinnaholic and Volleyball events in May and September, or the annual German Society Catan Tournament in the spring.

What I’ll Prioritize as Webmaster

1. Responsiveness to Resident Needs and Feedback
The website should serve you. Whether you care about the common area improvements, or need advice on repairs, the website should serve as a one-stop-shop for residents to stay informed, find upcoming events, and give feedback to the committee. As one of many students affected by HVAC issues this past year, I want to make sure the website is up to date with all relevant information for both residents and administrators to see.

2. Timely Communication
Meeting minutes and committee updates will be posted promptly. No one should have to wonder what happened at the last town hall or what decisions were made.

3. Revitalize the Events Calendar
Our website has an events calendar that has not been used as of late. I want to make it easier for both the committee and community event organizers to add their events into one accessible calendar so everyone can stay informed and engaged.

Why I’m Running

Lakeside is my home, and I care deeply about making it a better place for all of us. Resident feedback and community action can lead to real improvements: as announced by Housing at the last town hall, new gym equipment is arriving later this semester, and there will hopefully be better accountability on maintenance issues going forward. The webmaster role is underutilized as a critical link in that chain: it’s how we stay informed, connected, and engaged.

I’m ready to bring the same dedication I’ve shown in my informal work to this official role. If you want a webmaster who’s proactive, technically capable, and genuinely invested in our community, I hope you’ll vote for me.

Thank you for your consideration, and feel free to reach out anytime with questions or ideas!
